Adrian Lewis, the two-time world champion, has announced his return to professional darts in 2025, feeling โrefreshed and re-energisedโ after a break from the sport.
Lewis, who stepped away from the darts scene in April 2023, cited personal reasons, including caring for his ill wife, Sarah, as factors influencing his decision to take a hiatus. His absence followed over 20 years of competition, during which his form had dipped, and his world ranking had declined.
Now 39, Lewis will return to the oche after signing with Modus Sports Management, joining the ranks of world champion Luke Humphries and Fallon Sherrock. Initially, he will not be pursuing a PDC Tour Card or aiming for major TV tournaments. Instead, Lewis plans to begin his comeback through the online leagues.
โIโm delighted to be returning to the sport that I love, and to be backed by Modus Sports Management going forward,โ Lewis said. โI feel refreshed and re-energised, and Iโm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me. I will not be rushing back to Q-School just yet, but I am not ruling it out in the future. Firstly, I shall be looking to play the Modus Super Series in 2025 as my pathway back to the professional circuit.โ
Lewis, a protรฉgรฉ of Phil Taylor from Stoke-on-Trent, secured world titles in 2011 and 2012, in addition to four World Cup victories for England alongside Taylor.
