Matches Recap

Luke Woodhouse 10-8 Ryan Searle

In a tightly contested match, Luke Woodhouse emerged victorious over Ryan Searle with a 10-8 win, showcasing his persistence and grit throughout the game. Both players threw 25 scores of 100+ and matched each other in the 180s, with three apiece. Woodhouse stayed resilient despite Searle’s 50% checkout success, gradually building momentum to edge past his opponent with steady scoring and a crucial finish to close out the game.

Searle kept the pressure high, leading with a notable 108 checkout – the highest of the match – and maintaining a slight average advantage of 93.61 compared to Woodhouse’s 92.07. However, Woodhouse’s determination saw him through the tense leg-play exchanges, ultimately overcoming Searle’s strong finishing with his timely checkouts and steady play to claim the win.

Dirk van Duijvenbode 10-5 Daryl Gurney

Dirk van Duijvenbode claimed a solid 10-5 victory over Daryl Gurney, using consistent scoring power and timely finishing to secure his spot in the next round. Van Duijvenbode maintained a 95.07 average, with five 180s, and matched Gurney’s pressure with a higher checkout success rate of 31.3%. Though Gurney threw more than 100+ scores and hit seven 180s, he struggled to find his finishing touch, converting just 26.3% of his attempts.

Gurney’s highest checkout was 47, while van Duijvenbode’s top finish was a notable 90, helping him maintain control as he steadily extended his lead. With a strong mid-game surge, van Duijvenbode outpaced his opponent and stayed composed under pressure, capitalizing on scoring opportunities to see off Gurney and advance with a comfortable margin.

Ritchie Edhouse 10-9 Michael Smith

Ritchie Edhouse clinched a thrilling 10-9 victory over Michael Smith in a nail-biting last-leg decider. Despite Smith’s slightly higher 95.62 average and a brilliant 152 checkout, Edhouse showed remarkable resilience, maintaining a strong 93.21 average and hitting six 180s to keep pace. Edhouse also displayed consistent finishing, converting 50% of his checkouts compared to Smith’s 40%, which ultimately proved critical in edging the tight contest.

Smith, with 26 scores of 100+ and 13 scores of 140+, pushed Edhouse to his limits, but Edhouse’s solid scoring and composed finishes held firm under the intense pressure. In a match defined by high-stakes momentum shifts, Edhouse’s steady approach allowed him to capitalize on key moments, and he prevailed in the decisive leg to complete a memorable win over the world-class opponent.

Mike De Decker 6-10 Danny Noppert

Danny Noppert showcased a stellar performance against Mike De Decker, securing a 10-6 victory and advancing to the quarterfinals. With a strong 100.22 average and eight 180s, Noppert kept the pressure on throughout the match. His impressive finishing, including a high checkout of 124, proved crucial, converting 10 of his 20 attempts at double for a solid 50% checkout rate.

De Decker put up a valiant effort with a 96.23 average and four 180s of his own, maintaining competitive scoring and a steady 60% checkout rate. His highlight came with a 112 checkout, showing he wasn’t going down without a fight. Despite his efforts, De Decker couldn’t keep up with Noppert’s consistency, and Noppert’s clinical finishing saw him over the line.

Michael van Gerwen 4-10 Gary Anderson

Gary Anderson delivered an impressive performance, overcoming Michael van Gerwen with a decisive 10-4 victory. Anderson’s steady 96.91 average was paired with his consistent scoring, including twelve 140+ throws and five 180s that kept van Gerwen under pressure throughout the match. His 40% checkout success rate helped him clinch the win, with a standout 122 finish adding to his confidence on the stage.

Van Gerwen, despite throwing nine 140+ scores and achieving a high checkout of 107, couldn’t match Anderson’s pace and precision. His 93.04 average and 28.6% checkout accuracy struggled to turn the tide in his favor. The match showcased Anderson’s control and composure, while van Gerwen, unable to find his rhythm, will be looking to bounce back stronger in future rounds.

James Wade 9-10 Jermaine Wattimena

In a nail-biting contest, Jermaine Wattimena edged past James Wade with a 10-9 win, securing his spot in the next round. Both players showed incredible resilience and skill, with Wade achieving an impressive 98.49 average and Wattimena just ahead at 100.87. Wade’s 9 maximum 180s kept the match tightly contested, while Wattimena’s steady accuracy and consistent scoring helped him stay in the lead during crucial stages.

Wattimena’s highest checkout of 124 proved to be a pivotal moment in the match, complementing his solid 52.6% checkout rate. Despite Wade’s higher checkout percentage of 64.3% and a notable finish of 109, Wattimena held his nerve in the final leg to clinch a hard-fought victory. It was an unforgettable match showcasing the tension and precision of top-tier darts!

Luke Humphries 10-3 Jonny Clayton

Luke Humphries delivered a commanding performance to defeat Jonny Clayton 10-3, showcasing a 102.33 average and clinical finishing. Humphries’ sharp accuracy led him to a 47.6% checkout success rate, significantly outpacing Clayton’s 25.0%. Throughout the match, Humphries remained in control, producing 12 scores over 140 and landing three 180s to maintain a relentless pace.

Clayton, though consistent with 19 scores over 100, struggled to find momentum, finishing with a 91.62 average. Despite his efforts, Clayton’s highest checkout of 56 was overshadowed by Humphries’ efficient play and superior scoring power. With this impressive victory, Humphries advances confidently, leaving a strong statement with his remarkable performance.

Andrew Gilding 3-10 Ricardo Pietreczko

Ricardo Pietreczko delivered a commanding performance against Andrew Gilding, taking a decisive 10-3 win to advance to the next round. Pietreczko’s finishing was sharp, with a 47.6% checkout rate and two 100+ finishes, including a remarkable 158 checkout. While Gilding fought hard, Pietreczko’s consistency in scoring and timing allowed him to maintain control, leaving Gilding with limited opportunities to stage a comeback.

Gilding’s average of 84.5 was outmatched by Pietreczko’s 90.24, and though he managed two 180s and some solid scoring shots, he couldn’t sustain the momentum needed to turn the match. Pietreczko’s tenacity and clinical finishing saw him capitalize on every opening, sealing a memorable and dominant victory.
