The field for next month’s Australian Darts Masters has been finalized, featuring newly crowned World Matchplay champion Luke Humphries and Premier League winner Luke Littler, both set to make their debuts Down Under.
The 2024 Australian Darts Masters will be held at the WIN Entertainment Centre on August 9-10, showcasing some of the sport’s biggest names vying for the prestigious World Series of Darts title.
Headlining the 16-player field in Wollongong is World Champion Luke Humphries. Following his debut success at the World Cup of Darts last month, Humphries claimed his maiden World Matchplay title at the Winter Gardens.
Humphries, along with teenage sensation Luke Littler, will be making their debut on Australian soil. Littler has made a significant impact on the darting world over the last nine months.
Rob Cross, who won in Wollongong in 2023, aims to maintain his impressive consistency on the World Series circuit. After triumphing at the US Darts Masters in June, Cross reached consecutive finals in Copenhagen and Poland.
Australian number one Damon Heta will seek to shine on home turf, joined by former World Champions Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price, and Peter Wright. Dimitri Van den Bergh, the UK Open champion, will make his third consecutive World Series of Darts appearance in Australia.
Australian icon Simon Whitlock, a World Cup winner alongside Heta in 2022, leads the eight Oceanic representatives. New Zealand’s top player Haupai Puha is also set to participate.
Brenton Lloyd, Rob Modra, and Joe Comito will return to the big stage in 2024 after qualifying from the DartPlayers Australia circuit. Debutant Stuart Coburn steps in for Brody Klinge, who withdrew due to family reasons.
John Hurring secured his spot through the DartPlayers New Zealand Qualifier earlier this month. Jeremy Fagg, the DPA ProTour Order of Merit leader, completes the 16-player line-up as the top-ranked non-qualified player.
Friday’s first round will see the eight PDC superstars face off against their Oceanic counterparts for a place in Finals Day. The tournament will conclude with the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final on Saturday, August 10.
